I’ve officially moved.
We’re in the same place according to the Post Office, but the Almighty has apparently transplanted Arizona when nobody was looking. I’m sort of okay with that as long as the climate change follows us into summer time. If we get below freezing and rain all winter, we can shave away 10-30 degrees worth of daytime highs in summer and I’ll be a happy camper.
Y’all, it is still raining here. And more rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future. It’s 45 DEGREES outside at just before lunchtime. We’re not supposed to get to 60 all week. Yes, I know for most of the world that sounds pretty good, since you’re shoveling snow. For crying out loud, we’re still dipping into freezing temperatures overnight. That’s unprecedented here.
There’s no snow – so far – but it’s a genuine possibility this week. If it snows I’m going out with my camera and having a field day.
It does snow here occasionally, though it’s normally a light dusting that doesn’t stick and is gone within minutes. But this stuff is a whole other level of winter weather for us, so who knows?
Speaking of the camera, I did the run to Tucson Saturday. It was a
The pictures turned out okay, considering the venue. This wedding was more than a wee bit ghetto. The couple rented a VA hall. The daughter did a damned good job with what she had to work with and the family was tickled pink with the decorations and ceremony. (Daughter was both the decorator and officiant.)
Given her decorating budget was little more than pennies, the older daughter had to get creative. This was the table decor:

The branches came from her back yard. A little spray paint and beading later, and voilá! Wedding-ready. No charge for the branches; beads are pricey but since there weren’t many in use, it worked out. The rest, including the silk flower petals, came from WalMart or the Dollar store. (The blue ribbon roses were WalMart ribbon – the daughter fashioned the roses from it.)
I do have to give the bride and groom props for their choice of ring bearer, though:

Her name is Princess. Justifiably so.
I have more photos but haven’t had time to run them through my filters, and not sharing pictures of the people without their express permission, so….
Princess looks better than some brides I’ve seen. Daughter gets points for style and ingenuity! Well done, all. I can’t wait to see the rest of the pics 🙂
The daughter did well – and yes, Princess lived up to her name. She got lots of attention and treated it as her due. 🙂
The whole climate thing is so confusing. Snow regularly here but it finishes with a bout of rain so we glaze over. Last weeks snow was followed by 50 degrees when typical is snow followed by howling polar wind. Someone said recently that mother nature must be going through menopause…..
Creative on a serious budget isn’t always easy… nice work!
The last time I remember it being crazy rainy like this was circa 1979 – but it was during our normal rainy season. This year has been off the scale.
I expect we are all going to see more strange climates for our various areas. Love the wedding decor…can’t wait for the rest of the photos.
