Yay! The publisher has my book online for sale. They said it takes another 4 to 6 weeks to hit other outlets, but I’m not going to stress over that. I am just doing the ebook format for the moment, but think I will probably also bite the bullet and do print-on-demand a la CreateSpace. I’m guessing most of my target audience will buy in electronic format anyway.
The picture is a link to the book on bookcountry.com, which is the red-headed stepchild of a division of Penguin Books. I decided to take the recomendation of Dangerspouse, who pointed me there. (Crazy, I know!)
Hopefully there are no major typos remaining in the book. I think between three of us we did at LEAST fifteen revisions. The only thing I think is still left is a minor inconsistency in capitalization, which I plan to attack before I go the extra step to take it to print.
It isn’t War and Peace, or anything that profound. It’s fantasy fluff with a purdy dragon picture on the front. It means I got off my ass and got a book written and published, in whatever format I could take it. That’s numbers 1 through 100 on my bucket list, finally scratched off. 101 is becoming a best-selling author, but for the moment I’ll just settle for PUBLISHED author.
Terri, you inspired me in no uncertain terms.
I am running on empty tonight. G has been sick for the past three weeks – really ill. We got him in to see the doctor and he got prescriptions for an antibiotic and cough syrup with codeine. I’m reasonably sure he’s had the flu, which means the antibiotics were pointless, but at least the cough syrup gives us both the luxury of sleeping all night again. With him effectively bedridden and my grandson sick so my daughter’s been busy with him, it dropped all the housework back on my shoulders and that’s been tough.
Anyone who’s ever kept house knows it’s hard work. Try doing that on top of working full time and dealing with a disability and it’s killer.
The kids are all going to be here tomorrow. My daughter-in-law will be helping to cook, thank goodness. Hopefully my younger daughter doesn’t crap out on me altogether. She’s not home tonight and I was counting on her to do a lot of the cooking tomorrow too. I think she’s in class until late tonight. I can’t keep track of her schedule.
Oh well. I’ll do the turkey because I’ll be the only one up that early. Fourteen and a half pounds of bird = 4 3/4 hours of cook time. It needs to be in the oven by about 5:30 tomorrow morning to allow time for us to bake the last-minute stuff: croissants, green bean casserole, etc.
Here’s hoping everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
