Some US citizens fled to Canada, believing their departure would escape this regime. It doesn’t look like a successful plan. Our nation is 1939 Germany. Our insurgent-in-chief fired on Venezuela, is gleefully targeting Greenland, and announced plans to take over Canada.
I’m not sure how much of the current national insanity is orchestrated by Russia, or if Cheatolini escaped the leash and went rogue. I know Dangerspouse and his other half are planning to flee to Europe — and I hope they make it soon, and that Europe doesn’t end up merely the next step in the takeover insanity.
At my age and health condition, I’m unlikely to live to see the other side of this mess. Some of my own kids drank the Kool Aid and actually think Cheatolini is the good guy. I tried warning them, their kids tried warning them. It must be like jumping off a cliff and thinking the wind through your hair is awesome. You refuse to look at the rocks rushing to meet you. People warned you before you jumped – once you do, it’s too late to do anything but enjoy the short, disasterous flight.
It’s 1:33am and I’m awake. Tired, but awake. I’m attempting to keep functioning because of my kids and grandkids, and it’s getting tougher with each tick of the clock.
I feel what you’re saying. Having grown up with the cold war and all the 60s stuff I thought maybe that was enough history. Hell, the Berlin wall came down ffs.

Looking at the rise in populist right wing governments even in Western Europe now, I’m starting to wonder if ANY place is going to be safe, long term.
I don’t think there is. It’s a pandemic, and one humanity may not survive. I always said stupid should hurt. It does, as it turns out. It hurts everyone.
Although i don’t like getting older ~ at times I am thankful I won’t be living in this orange hell forever. I don’t know if this is the end of the world as we were told but it sure seems like it.
