I have an actual FOUR-DAY WEEKEND. As in, not working four straight days. The husband unit and I puttered around yesterday in town, mostly doing the yard sale thing. (Trust me – husband’s 100% in yard sale mode on my days off, every time.) Today while he and his buddy did their own yard sale run I did a drive around town looking for other ways to play with my camera.
Well, that and yap on the phone.
I rarely talk on the phone voluntarily when I’m off work. I think Dangerspouse will vouch for me. When your day job involves talking all day, you’d be thrilled to not say a word once you’re off work. I’d be a total hermit if left to my own devices. However, in this case I got a wild hair to call and talk to a friend I rarely talk to, and we talked a lot more than I snapped pictures, for the better part of two hours. I don’t regret it a single bit, either.
I snapped a couple of half-assed shots inside a local mall. There’s more subject matter close to home imho, but I wanted a few interior photos. And I grabbed a couple of them I like. I could see cropping out the lights, putting them against a different background, and using them for a Christmas card, for example. As always, click the smaller images to embiggen them.
Tomorrow we’re supposed to go out of town on a real shooting spree (the kind using cameras to shoot). We’re tentatively heading up into the mountains, but with my other half, we could land anywhere or he could nix the whole trip because he’s not feeling well. It’s been known to happen.
Now I’m the first to admit I’ve got a long ways to go to be a good photographer, but wanted to show you an example of what can be done by someone who knows how to actually use my camera. My husband took this snap yesterday while we were out and about.

Here’s hoping we can go get some new pictures to add to my pitiful collection tomorrow.
Oh, I will indeed. Vouch! Vouch! Vouch!
Hey, those were some nice mall shots. I love love love the hanging lanterns pic. Beautiful composition, and the exposure came out just right. The escalator shot was a lot of fun also – bravo!
And WOW, your hubby nailed that one! Damn. Double bravo!!
I know – the dragonfly arabesque was killer! Of course what that DOESN’T show is how many attempts it took to get it just right. The bug moved, or the wind blew bug and flower and all, or or or. But some wildlife photographers take months and months to get the perfect shot, so I consider that one a huge win.
And yeah, I’m really happy with how the image of the lights came out. I wanted to buy out that whole store though, LOL. (I’ve been wanting some solar lights for our yard for eons, but my husband would throw a fit over the ones they had. Too froufrou.)
Loved the photos and love that you have a 4 day weekend! I’m glad you are having some adventures during that time.
Thank you, Terri 🙂 The husband didn’t feel like going anywhere today. We shall see if it happens tomorrow.
