Yeah, yeah, I know. Two posts in two days. No, it isn’t gonna become a habit.
It’s still our busy season at work, so taking the breather while I’ve got it. Thankfully we’re about halfway through summer. Another couple of months and things should ease considerably.
A facebook friend and former colleague was complaining, saying Google Earth needed to come back and take an updated picture of her house to show her new tree and new car. Ahem, Angel. I’ll see your new tree/car and raise you this:

I’ve been on G’s case about hanging the compass rose (peeking from behind the bench, under the big window. It’s been there for around a year now.) However, at least we no longer look like Little CrackHouse on the Desert.
Take that, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
A different sort of before-and-after.
Most of my photos are, other than adjusting exposure and so on, pretty much what you see is what you get. Occasionally I edit the living crap out of them, though, like this one:

We were tickled to find the abandoned storefront out in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t crazy far from home, a ways down a dirt road off the main east-west drag.
The building screamed, “Take a picture of me!” So I did. And it wasn’t a bad picture – but was like an itch I couldn’t scratch. Something was wrong with it. I tried a few different things to save the color version – no go. Then I switched to black & white, which was 100% better. Gave it a touch of sepia – still better. I also erased the yellow poles from the colored version, along with the stop sign, electric poles, and so on. By then I was pretty happy with the outcome, but there was still something not-quite-right. And I realized. That bright blue sky in the “before” translated to mostly white when I went b&w. So I putzed around with the sky and NOW I’m happy.
The original on this was a bit grainy, which would normally be an issue; however, for this specific image, the grainy element works. I saved this full size and while we’ve got it listed on our Etsy photography storefront, I’m thinking of ordering a print from somewhere and framing it for us. Both G and I like how this one turned out.
Most of the photos in the shop are G’s, but at least I’ve contributed a few here and there.
Occasionally I’ll go a bit further and turn the images into a changing picture, an animated gif. My apologies for this one – I should’ve straightened the original and resized it, but here we are.

Dangerspouse, I finally talked G into at least trying the pool noodle… er, pipe wrap, approach to car-window photography. I sent him the link to the YouTube video and he recognized the photographer there, so then it was all okay. I love my husband to pieces, but now and then he pushes some big honkin’ red buttons for me.
Wait – a husband? Pushing a wife’s buttons?? ALERT THE MEDIA!
Oh wait…that’s us.
Lol. Glad he came around, if only to try the cheapest option first. And seriously, also consider carrying a small/medium sized beanbag in the car. It’s the go-to standard of professionals for a reason.
I love the edits! Good call taking out the vertical poles in the sepia shot. I hope it sells well for you!
Thank you! Our shop hasn’t been up for very long so we haven’t sold a lot of photos. But everything counts, right?
I’m looking for a small bean bag option. If all else fails, I can pick up a Beanie Baby and sacrifice it for the cause, bwahaha.
