I ran across one of my old diary entries on Diaryland, back when dealing with one of mankind’s finest examples of liar and bastard. I called him “12” back then. He didn’t live much longer, as it turns out. He wasn’t a young man nor one who made the best choices in his life. He had money and sadly, that turned out to be the only thing to recommend him. I didn’t realize until recently he’d died when he did – ran across his obit in the course of looking up business references for the Greenhouse Servers project. I gather 12 died alone, sadder still for him. Apparently you can’t trash people’s lives indefinitely without it coming back to bite you in the ass in the end. Who’d-a thunk?
My publishing consultant told me we’re NOT going to re-release the fantasy in print for a few more weeks at least, even though I want it off my proverbial plate. From there, though, I’ve got titles coming out about once every other month for a while. One’s getting overhauled as we speak; one’s a collaborative non-fiction effort which should come together fast; one’s a variant of a couple of other non-fic shorts, mashed into a single print volume and including workbook pages. And so on.
I’ve got a few other things in the pipeline, including a sequel to the fantasy and a “cozy” mystery series. Think “Murder, She Wrote” but with a slightly more warped sense of humor. I’ve made headway on the character bible for that one and sketched out titles and concept for each of the shorts in the series. The series name will be the Tippsey Teakettle Mysteries – “Tipps” being the name of the husband-and-wife protagonists. Their second-hand shop will be the Tippsey Teakettle, and the mysteries will surround the items they acquire. Among the titles: The Chalk-Line Chicken and The Persnickety Piano. Silly, low-key stuff, but it sells.
This will be my first full week of telecommuting at my “day” job. I should be asleep now, in fact. I start at 5am, so need to be up in another couple of hours. Blergh.
Sounds like your life is filling up with many good things and wonderful possibilities. I plan to read the rest of your manuscript this week and get back to you.
Thank you, Terri. That one’s driven me completely crazy. I actually like the story, like the concepts – just need to put it together better
