The performer on this, Zoe Marie, is the one who wrote the music. She reminds me a bit of Jewel. I want tweak the music in places. I own all rights to the song, including the tune. Changing it is 100% my prerogative. The original recording deal fell through but it’s enough it was considered, regardless.
The lyrics are all mine and displayed below the Soundcloud recording.
On Your Collar
I love you
I want you
I need you
I hate you
Never want to see you
Never want to be without
You again
When I saw you through the window
My heart did a double take
There was mustard on your collar
And my hands began to shake
So I strolled into the restaurant
And I sat right down in your booth
Before you could say you didn’t know me
I mentioned spinach on your tooth
I love you
I want you
I need you
I hate you
I stalked you, should’ve been arrested
Instead, you smiled and asked me
Where I’d been
When I saw you come through the door
My heart dove down to my toes
There was lipstick on your collar
In a smear of sexy rose
So I lay down and started crying
‘Cause the color wasn’t mine
When you crawled in bed beside me
I could smell the smoke and wine…
Not mine…
Yesterday I saw you on the sidewalk
My heart still rumbled like a drumbeat
Your smile was lost and bittersweet
As we mumbled our hellos.
I asked if you were happy
You shrugged and just said maybe
And the rain that stained your collar
Might have been a teardrop.
For those of you who don’t follow me on FB, yes, LD Holland is me. It’s the nom de plume I’ll use if I ever resume writing books.
When my spousal unit joined Facebook, it was to sell stuff. (His natural state of existence.) Hubby most assuredly didn’t want to sign up with his real name, for a lot of reasons. Among them was the ex from Hell, but she’s not the only one. Anywho, when he signed on as Reno Holland, I changed my FB surname to match, on principle. Our actual surname is old Dutch. Old old Dutch. Hence the sideways step to “Holland.”

The song was cute. I liked the words too. Good luck.
Thank you, Terri!
