Bypassing all the gory details, last week was rough. All I can say now is it involved a mental health crisis, two ambulance rides, and driving home after midnight. (I was the one driving. It was neither G nor myself carted off via ambulance.)
Medical and counseling appointments have been scheduled in follow up, and prescriptions given. So far, this has been a substantially better week.
If you don’t count the light wars.
In the beginning, I purchased a book light from Amazon, like the one pictured at left. (An Amazon Associates’ link, so if you buy one I get 2 cents or thereabouts.)
And I saw that it was good. (The light, not the 2 cents. Though 2 cents would be good, too.)
Then my daughter and grandson arrived, and my daughter fell in love with my little black book light. So I bought her one of her own, only dark green at her request, so we didn’t mix up whose was which.
And lo, we both saw that it was good.
So did my grandson.
Henceforth, my grandson hath laid claim to the green book light, because it’s a fancy electronic gadget with different light temperatures, adjustable brightness, rechargeable, and in his favorite color. He sat reading with it for several hours yesterday, a detail which was most definitely good.
Book light #3 was ordered early this morn, this time a fetching version in lavender.
G hath not pilfered a book light. (Yet.) That would be next step, if there be one. He wouldst not be tempted by lavender, so I shall be guarding the black one lest it finds its way into his desk drawer.
Enough of the Shrek-esque old English.
The image at the top of this page is obviously not a photo, nor is it AI. The galaxy and stars were all my own creations. I made a set of Photoshop brushes a while back, and was playing with them tonight because why not? I knew the title of this entry and knew none of my photos would work. I could’ve done AI. In this case, however, I prefer the old-school approach.

I look forward to next year with no small amount of trepidation, given the incoming political calamity. I’ve never hoped so much to be proven wrong.
Here’s to a happy, healthy, prosperous new year for us all.

Happy New Year!
Booklights…hmmmm Birthday gifts!
Happy New Year!
And while I’ve bought book lights before, IMHO these are the best I’ve ever bought
Sorry about all the chaos but so happy that a little book light can make such a difference for so many.
Thank you, Terri. There are challenges, but we’re managing. And even with the challenges we’re hanging in there. Agree on the lights though!
