Happy Holidays

Posted on December 24, 2023 by leilani

We didn’t send Christmas cards this year, not even to family. Heck, we didn’t do Christmas shopping this year. The slashed paycheck allows us to pay the bills, and almost nothing else. (The extras from my Christmas bonus at work went straight to bills.) Considering how rough a lot of families are having it right now, I still feel blessed. At least we can pay our bills.

Tech Tok

My regular laptop is up and running again, woohoo! The power supply/cord developed a short and finally died altogether. It’s under warranty, so I’m not worried about cost for the replacement. But it means I have to back up all my files, because Lenovo requires me to ship the whole computer to them in order to cover it under warranty.

Amazon delivered a cheapie knockoff charger today, which works and should keep things going long enough to do a file backup. I’m grateful, because I was afraid I’d end up losing a few months’ worth of photos — not a happy prospect. I need to start backing up every couple of weeks or so, to play it safe.

A new charger from Lenovo — outside of warranty — is $135 plus shipping. I paid $29 for the knockoff. You never know how well a knockoff will work, but thankfully this one does.

Today was candy day. I made a batch of marshmallow fudge and a batch of peanut butter fudge. I’ll do the rest of the cooking Monday. Our family Christmas will be at the youngest daughter’s place and is pot luck. I’m planning deviled eggs, a veggie tray, and chicken schnitzels.

If nothing else, come Monday I’ll be able to tell you which came first: the chicken or the egg(s).

I hope you have a very happy holiday. It’s just my sister who lives with me and my son and daughter in law. Other sister is in Texas with her extended family. Certainly not the way we used to celebrate the holidays. Most of family is gone or scattered.

It’s not the numbers — it’s the love. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

The body needs food, water, and air; so does the soul need love, laughter, and imagination.
