Not sure how much I can post here for legal reasons, considering I’m to the point of hiring an attorney to get things done. I’ve already been to the ADA site to fill out a complaint but they told me I need to file a grievance first. Since things involve a third party “absence management” agency that’s systematically incompetent, I sent an email (because phone messages magically don’t get delivered on either end) asking to open a grievance ahead of my filing my ADA complaint. Yes, I put it that way.
At this point I’m still employed, but it’s ridiculous that I’m still fighting with these people to do the ONLY job they perform. Sheesh.
Anywho, I’m home because my body decreed it wasn’t going anywhere this morning. I am hoping I can bust a few heads enough to extend things a bit longer, but it simply re-emphasizes it’s time to get my ass in gear on other projects and stop treating them like hobbies. Yeah, I’d like to retire and live a life of leisure with lots of money. I don’t know of very many people who legitimately want to work full time, nor anybody who would turn up their noses at more money. It’ll happen, I’ll make sure of it, one way or another.
I started another FB group today (since I only have a few dozen, all related to this immediate community.) We have something like 100,000 people in the area but are unincorporated. The upside to that is that we only have to deal with crooked politicians at the county, state, and federal levels, and we have a relatively low tax rate.
The downside is that we have zero representation at any of those levels, and have no public services. You need a fire truck or paramedic? I hope you paid $450 a year for your fire insurance, because otherwise you’re SOL. I am not even opposed to paying it – after all, you’d have to pay taxes as part of a municipality – but paying it all out in a single chunk is impossible for most people – so they go without, which is a recipe for disaster. There was a recent attempt by a neighboring city to take over the community’s water department. Granted, our water department could use some oversight, but that ain’t it. Currently the water company for the whole region is independently owned. That’s meant higher water bills and at least once period when you couldnt USE the water because of contamination.
I walked away from this a little while ago because of some other things needing my attention. By the time I got back, apparently threats and intimidation finally got the job done. My email this morning got the denial reversed and the case worker has been practically kissing my behind over the past couple of hours apologize, to ask if there’s anything more I need, blah blah blah. These people kept claiming they didn’t have my information when I had emails stating that they did. It’s taken them TWO MONTHS to do what should be a fifteen minute process of reading through a five-page standardized medical form, 90% of which is check boxes or blank lines.
You’d almost thing these people work for the government.
I’m glad I stayed home today or it would’ve been the end of my job, period. Yeesh.
