Productivity isn’t my middle name this weekend. In fact, I think I may have shot and killed productivity sometime Friday night. I accomplished very little other than cooking a couple of meals, otherwise spending virtually the entire weekend in bed, sleeping, TV-ing or computering.
There’s a reason besides the avoidance of work: my knee flared up again this week, in a very big, very mean, very painful way. Enough so that I was nauseated by it. I made another trek to the orthopedic surgeon, and he gave me a cortisone injection. The idea behind it is that we know I have arthritis, and the cortisone would kill the pain if the flare was arthritis. The cortisone unfortunately didn’t make a difference, hence it looks like I may be surgery bound again and get to do a bout of radiation therapy, yay. And hence giving it every bit of rest I can over the weekend so I don’t have to miss any more work. Urg.
There were no yard sales this weekend because I wasn’t about to go driving unnecessarily, either. Being flat broke also hasn’t got anything to do with it, nope nope, heh.
If I were half as creative as Poolagirl I’d launch a wildly-successful meme of a sort, like her Fifty Shades of Grey photo extravaganza. Then again, I don’t post often and don’t have a lot of readership these days. My own fault – if you want readers you need to post with some kind of regularity and my life these days doesn’t give me that freedom.
One interesting development. I’ve been talking about working from home and thanks to a remarkable online friend, that very opportunity has presented itself. When I mentioned it to G, he (in typical fashion) blew it off as impractical. It would present challenges, most of them surrounding the general chaos of having a one-year-old in the house who thinks if Bamma (he can’t say “Grandma” yet) is home, she should be cuddling and playing with him.
However… it would cut a significant chunk of expenses from our budget because there wouldn’t be a commute. It would still offer me a lot of the same benefits as where I am now working, plus a couple of very important additions, and the company is one I know very well. It would be in the general ballpark of doing the same job I’m doing now, just doing it online vs. doing it on the phone. The combination of eliminating phone work and of eliminating the commute are enormously enticing. I will absolutely apply. Cross your fingers that the pay is commensurate and that I would qualify. It is a job that, should I become fully disabled in the future, I could still do. And I could do it from anywhere with an Internet connection.
My first reaction was that it was a great idea but wrong time; however on reflection I’m thinking it might in fact be the PERFECT time.
I have thrown a lot of things out to the Universe lately. It’s perfectly appropriate that the Universe is answering.
