I didn’t really mention our recent office Christmas party, did I? Well, I did on Twitter, but that doesn’t count since I’m rarely if ever there. Verbose-to-the-extremes that I am on the rare occasions I actually have moments to post, I bristle at a 140-word restriction.
The party – and it was a CHRISTMAS party not a HOLIDAY party (PC can just take a number and wait.) My boss is probably one of the less-PC personalities you’ll meet, and also one of the most generous to his employees. We had a couple of yawn-worthy comedians, some excellent music and a few thousand people, fake snow on artificial turf and a skating rink in the middle of the tables. A real skating rink, where skates were provided for the people in tuxes and evening gowns who wanted to skate. (And a few did, too.)
I have never in my life seen so much money just handed out pell-mell. None of the cash prized got handed to me, but I am not about to complain. My life is, thank God, on an uphill trajectory these days. I’ll have an off day now and then but overall I’m pretty happy with the direction things have taken.
My time tonight is limited. I added my blogroll and already know I am leaving someone out. Unfortunately I forgot to copy over my links before deleting my old blog! Gah!
The usual suspects are all accounted for, I think, thought I’m pretty sure I’m missing at least a few critical folks who will stand akimbo with a silent look of disapproval slashed across their virtual faces. I didn’t intentionally snub anyone. It’s just that my perfect memory only lasts about ten seconds at a time.
This is of necessity going to be a very short entry. I managed to stumble home this afternoon, scarf down a meal that I’d put in the crock pot, and had just enought ambition to whip up a chocolate cake with bittersweet chocolate icing. My stomach is now churning and the generic version of Tylenol PM is starting to kick in.
Starting this week, it’s my intention to post regular photos with my entries, even if it’s just mundane stuff. There’s Wonder Pup, there’s the new rug, and there’s clown pillows on the loveseat. Just wait – you’ll see what I mean. And there’s the gradually gorgeous weather moving back in. I think. We’ve had rain for several days so it’s been cold and icky. That’s atypical. We normally have sunshine and short-sleeve weather, not 39 degrees overnight!
Oh yeah – the Christmas fireworks? Really happened. First set was all indoors. For the second set (before which I dragged my SO out the door, on the basis that I don’t really drive well while sleeping at the wheel,) they opened the roof and let off THE fireworks. So as you have probably gathered, it was kind of a big deal.
