The original idea was that we would save it and use it for a vacation. The reality was the kids continually emptied it. Like most kids, they were VERY talented at telling me (5 minutes before they left for school) that they needed X amount of money for something or other RIGHT THEN. I would just tell them to take it out of the jar. Bill is a penny dropper. He loves to drop several in a store and then see who picks them up. It's usually kids, who still believe "find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck." I recently found several pennies on the street outside our house. And husband throws change into a big plastic container....when he takes it to the credit union to be counted....it turns into several hundred dollars...Yeah. I put money back into a secret place and have almost $4000 saved...shhh.don't tell anyone. and I ALWAYS pick up pennies.... We use Discover and enjoy that bonus each year.
